Work with me
Three ways to connect, depending on what you have in mind.
1
Students and collaborators
I am glad to hear from students, faculty, and practitioners who care about how engineering students make decisions about AI, about transfer, and about entering the profession.
I work best with people who:
- want students’ own accounts at the center of the research;
- are comfortable with qualitative or mixed-methods designs, or keen to learn them;
- care about students on community college, transfer, international, and other non-traditional routes.
Current openings to collaborate include multi-institutional data collection for the AI Expectations Across Engineering Disciplines study and round-1 testing of Usewright with instructors, graduate supervisors, and students.
As the program grows, I plan to build a research group that studies decisions at points of transition in engineering, with methods that keep students’ voices in view.

Consulting and speaking
Through SaintDaniels Global LLC, my independent consulting practice, I work with STEM graduate students, early-career professionals, and the organizations that support them.
- Professional development frameworks for STEM professionals, grounded in engineering education and how people learn.
- Career strategy and pathway planning, including professional positioning for academic and industry roles.
- Workshops and talks for departments, research groups, and student associations. Recent topics include deductive and inductive qualitative coding in engineering education research, practical strategies for academic and career growth, and judging when AI helps or hinders learning.

Use this short bio and photo for programs, announcements, and introductions.
Daniel I. Adeniranye, PhD (ProfDan), is a faculty member in the Department of Engineering Education at The Ohio State University. He studies how engineering students use, limit, and decline generative AI, how AI competency demands are defined across engineering and the technical workforce, and how students move through engineering pathways. He holds degrees from institutions in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Nigeria, and is the founder of Usewright.
